John Meadows was a powerlifter (he trained at legendary Westside Barbell) turned bodybuilding phenom who won the 2015 NPC Universe bodybuilding contest and went on to become an top five finisher in his first three contests. Later in his career he became a personal trainer, coaching multiple women to Olympia championships.
Oh, and he also invented a single armed lat-focused row using the landmine barbell called “the meadows row” which has become a staple for building up the Latissimus Dorsi muscle in a unilateral fashion.
John wasn’t just a iconic athlete and coach, he was also well-known within the bodybuilding community as perhaps one of the kindest souls to ever work in the sport. Spend 15 minutes watching a few of his EXCELLENT training videos on YouTube and you’ll see just how great of a influence he was to people in the sport of bodybuilding.
John unfortunately passed away in 2021 at the age of 49 in his home, which shook the community.
